"By the River" through the eyes of a foreign film critic

Since its premiere, our short has appeared in the selection of many film reviews and festivals and has been honoured with numerous awards and distinctions. It is worth mentioning that in July Aleksandra Pisula, who plays the main role, was nominated for the prestigious Jan Machulski Award during the Kameralne Lato festival in Radom.
The film recently qualified for the New York Tri-State International Film Festival, which gives monthly awards to filmmakers in the industry. Since 2016, the festival has screened 334 local, national and international short films from 19 countries.

A movie about the courage necessary to live a life in harmony with yourself. Policewoman Kinga fallsin love with a woman. She engages in helping women beaten during the march against fascism. She breaks an order. This gives her the strength to reject the values she disagrees with and build herself anew. The film refers to real events - the Women's Strike and the Independence March (Marta Lempart appears in the film). These actions give her the strength to throw away the values she disagrees with and build herself anew.

Agata Korycka – a graduate of Directing at the WFS and Journalism at the University of Warsaw, as well as sociology and geography at the UMK. She has worked as a journalist in radio and television. She directed short documentaries and feature films for television and hosted her own radio show. She co-wrote the documentary novel Europe According to Auschwitz.
Films by students of the Warsaw Film School are co-financed by the Polish Film Institute
